As it was first dubbed "Silicon Hills" in the 1990s, Austin was a hotbed of the high-tech industry. The reputation grew in recent years, as Austin's thriving technology scene has been firmly established by its iconic South by Southwest festival. The University of Texas flagship campus is also home to Central Austin. A mix of city professionals, young families, musicians, and artists is present in Central Austin, making it a highly livable and always attractive city center.

Food and Drinks

The dining scene of Austin is an eclectic combination of Texan cuisine and contemporary food. The smoked meat at Franklin's BBQ is difficult to beat and claims to serve the best barbecue in the universe. The Odd Duck serves delicious and sustainable food. Jeffrey's has been an institution of Austin since the 1970s and continues to enjoy its delicious New American cuisine and high standard French-influenced cuisine.
